KamiJo Whiteclay: Artist Statement
As an Apsaalooke woman living in contemporary times, my work reflects my firsthand experiences and emotions. Through my art, I aim to share my unique perspective to build a bridge of understanding and connecting with others.

Art possesses the power to communicate complex ideas and emotions in a way that words cannot. I strive to create work that is both visually striking and emotionally resonant. Whether I'm working with digital design, drawing, painting, or metalwork, I aspire to create pieces that are thought-provoking. I find inspiration in the natural world and in my people's rich cultural heritage.

My passion for art was ignited by my great grandmother, who encouraged me to draw from an early age. Since then, I've continued to explore my creativity and develop my skills as an artist. Creating art is a deeply personal and fulfilling experience, and I'm grateful for the opportunity to share my work with others.
